Grace: (the great paradigm shift)

what is it? What does it do, and how can I get more of it?

Paradigm, a typical example or pattern of something; a model (the lens or filter that our experience is judged through)

We are going to start by briefly talking about the nature of God and the nature of man

3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact expression of His nature, sustaining all things by His powerful word. After making purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.

The Greek word here is character =an exact copy Jesus is the perfect personification of the Father. So we see that Jesus is the exact image of the Almighty God. When we read the Gospels we can discern the nature of God. Jesus always healed always loved. By closely observing Jesus we discover the nature and the will of the Father.

  1. Does this begin to change the way we see God?
  2. Man?
  3. Talk to me about the nature of man

Grace  khar’-ece

From G5463; graciousness (as gratifying), of manner or act (abstract or concrete; literal, figurative or spiritual; especially the divine influence upon the human heart, and its reflection in the life; including gratitude):

One of the very core meanings of Grace is God’s influence on the human heart

Step one: We acknowledge that within the universe there is ONE pervading presence, ONE force encompassing everything that is in existence, ONE energy from which all things are made of. Many people throughout the ages have called this Source of all things, God. What matters is that we recognize this truth.

There is one mediator or advocate Jesus, the great high priest of my confession

Hebrews 3:1 KJVS

[1] Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; Fix your thoughts on Jesus, and come boldly to the throne of grace (where the answer is yes) ,We hold fast to the confession of our faith (He is faithful)

Hebrews 12:2 KJVS[2] Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.  Jesus lives to make intercessions for me (Hebrews 7:25)

Step two: Having recognized the magnificence and awesome power of the ONE presence that is absolutely everywhere within the universe, we realize that this same intelligence that created everything, does not stop being where we are. Therefore It is within us; It is the substance that life is made of. In this step we become aware of who we really are: Divine beings made of the God’s energy and having a human experience.

Three amazing aspects are (1) The Creator, the ONE force that encompasses all has declared Himself my ABBA (daddy) God and (2) that I approach Him based on the merits of  Jesus, and that His Spirit lives in me!

Step three: We name our desire(s) with the feeling that as we do this, it is already ours. We are moving away from the feeling of ‘wanting’ to the feeling of ‘having’ already received.

Step four: We summon, from within ourselves, a feeling of gratitude. Of course, the Source of ‘ALL That Is’, does not need our gratitude to function; it is rather that a attitude of gratitude opens our consciousness to receiving even more good. As the Law of the universe is such that what we focus on, is what we manifest in our experience, when we are focused on the good that we already having, then we can only attract more good.

Step five: Once we have accomplished the four previous steps, all we need to do is trust. We release it to the wisdom and the love of the universe. The Creator does not require our input on ‘how’ our desire comes to pass!

Higher Thoughts

          Higher Thoughts= Higher Ways

ISAIAH 55:7-9 the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.  For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the LORD.  For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Notice the Prophet says the wicked man should forsake his way. The way is trodden path a habitual way of acting or a course of life. The way is a system of thought which has become an action that is accomplished on a regular basis.

Unrighteousness begins in the thought life. Everything begins in the thought life and the thought life gives birth to a way or a habit.

Change your thinking=Change your life. Notice that way here is equated to action, and also is accentuated by the word “wicked”. The unrighteous man is told to deal with his thought life.

The Story

My purpose for telling this story is to instill hope into the hearts of the distressed. You see, the individual in this story was lost and seemingly without hope. He also had a desire to change, but had no hope that he was able to. The actions and the thought process that he lived were promoting hurt and death in him and his family. The motivation to self-destruct came from a profound sense of unworthiness. I know his story well. Because it is my story.

When one of my mentors would talk about God, he would always say “from my amateur point of view”.  That resonates with me, because I think that we are all amateurs when it comes to God.  A man can spend much of his life (as I have for the past 28 years) learning the scripture and realize that he really doesn’t know much at all.  The Apostle Paul said that we see through a glass darkly, and I would have to say that is an understatement!  The first words from the Sermon on the Mount “Blessed are the poor in Spirit for theirs is the kingdom of God” would indicate that the key to receiving from that kingdom in the present tense is a sense of humility that recognizes he does not know much at all.

Now I will state my views plainly here, as I tell my story. I am blatantly Christian, but I make some religious people real nervous. They just don’t understand my friendship with God, and that is OK. I don’t understand their religion, but we all share the same thing. We still see through the glass darkly. But I am comfortable not knowing it all.
